Climate
The Burmese distinguish three major seasons:
the cold season from October to February, the hot season from
March until the beginning of June (with peak temperatures around
45 degrees Celsius) and the rainy season from the middle of June
to September. During the rainy season about four fifths of the
total annual precipitation is received.
Climate wise, the best season for visiting Myanmar is November to
February, when it rains least and isn't too hot. If you're hitting
the hill stations or the Rakhine coast, try March to May - on the
other hand, Bagan and Mandalay are intolerable during these
months. Myanmar is least crowded in May, June and September.
(inforithm)
Most of Myanmar has a tropical climate that follows a monsoon
pattern. As a result, Myanmar has three seasons: summer, rainy
season and cold season. The summer months are from mid-February to
mid-May. Myanmar receives nearly all its rain during the rainy
season which lasts from mid-May to October. Average annual
rainfall varies from about 5,000 mm (about 200 in) on the
Taninthayi Coast to about 760 mm (about 30 in) in Mandalay. The
cold season lasts from late October to mid-February. Temperatures
are lowest at this time, though the climate remains tropical
throughout most of Myanmar.
The average highest temperature in Central Myanmar during the
summer months of March and April is above 110°F (43.3°C) while it
is about 79°F (36.1°C) in northern Myanmar, and between 85°F and
95°F (29.4°C and 35°C) on the Shan Plateau. Temperature of towns
varies according to their location and elevation although extremes
of temperature are not encountered in Myanmar.
