Amsterdam,
the greatest planned city of northern Europe, has always
been a well-known name inworld history and played a central
role in the history of the Netherlands. In the 17th century
Amsterdam was the centre of world economy, and nowadays the
city is known for its tolerant character. Amsterdam is where
modern architecture developed organically between facades of
historical buildings. Since it is not a big city, all sites
of interest are within an acceptable distance. This is why
Amsterdam is so popular with lovers of architecture.
Amsterdam’s cosmopolitan outlook is reflected in the wealth
of its international cuisine. A tantalising array of
restaurants and cafés offers all manner of gastronomic
delicacies, from all corners of the globe. There are nearly
150 different types of cuisine represented, from sushi bars
to a restaurant in a genuine Bedouin tent. So whether
delegates are homesick for their own style of cooking, or
feeling ready for a culinary adventure, there will be
something to satisfy them. Amsterdam is often referred to as
one of the most colorful cities in the world. You will find
so many places of interest, famous museums, cozy pubs and
fun shops, (flower) markets and the traditional Dutch
landmarks Windmills. Lovers of gardens can enjoy garden
events throughout Holland any time of the year. The spring
and summer months, however, are the best times to go and see
the flower parks and the colorful bulb fields.
